Located in San Francisco’s Castro District, the GLBT History Museum is the first standalone museum of its kind in the United States and serves as a center for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Transgender Historical Society, which collects, preserves, and interprets the history of GLBT people and the communities that support them through exhibitions and lectures. We assisted the society’s board of trustees and director with the following services: programming, circulation layout and design of entry, graphics, construction documents, construction administration, presentations to stakeholders, and coordination of the larger design team (including curators, fabricators, and in-kind donation of construction services to build out the exhibit space). We also assisted in retrofitting a prefabricated exhibit system that was donated to the GLBT History Museum by the de Young Museum.
