Kuth Ranieri teamed with Gensler on the design for the 1.1 million square-foot SFO Terminal 1 Center Renovation Project. Through design-build delivery with Hensel Phelps, the new terminal redeveloped one of the Airport’s oldest terminals to meet the needs of modern travelers and revolutionize the guest experience.
When complete in 2024, the project will elevate SFO’s standard of providing a world-class, environmentally friendly travel experience. The project ranks 3rd of the Bay Areas’s top 25 construction projects.
The design focuses on a unique and quality user experience. Incorporating innovative ideas for air travel, technology, and amenities, the project exemplifies the character and scale of terminal space while also providing an efficient and comfortable passenger journey . The scope includes a new central area for passenger check-in, consolidated security checkpoint and recomposure area, new baggage handling system and baggage claim, and mezzanine. Concessions will reflect the theme of quality user experience and feature world-class vendors and services. Following the Airport’s sustainable program for design and operation, the new Terminal is targeting LEED Gold certification.
