Buckland Recreational Swimming Pool

The new 2,400 SF seasonal recreational swimming pool and bathhouse in located in Western Massachusetts. An angled pool is set within a generous deck to orient swimmers toward views of an abutting stream and to align with its bucolic setting. The wood- and metal-clad bathhouse includes reception, restrooms, changing areas, outdoor showers, storage, and a pool mechanical room. Sustainability features are central, including daylit spaces, natural ventilation, deep eaves, and a roof optimized for solar panel installation to offset all summer energy usage.

Design to MGL Chapter 149 bid in just over 5 months within a strictly limited budget. Project opened May of 2024, with 2% change orders. Funded in part through a MA state recreation grant, Kuth Ranieri worked with the town to meet the requirements of a Massachusetts state grant for park and recreation projects. Located within a Riverfront Area, the pool was entitled through the Town Conservation Commission, included mitigation measures. The project acheives net zero.
