Mallika Gupta
Design Intern
BACKGROUND
Mallika Gupta joined Kuth Ranieri in 2026 as a Design intern. She contributes with drawings, conceptual diagrams for competition entries and assists the studio with ongoing projects for presentation and working drawings.
She is also a current Master of Architecture student at University of California, Berkeley. Her final year thesis explores adaptive reuse of vacant office buildings to residential housing. It involves proposing strategies to address the housing crisis in San Francisco while making use of the underutilized building stock. In addition, Mallika volunteers as an Admissions Ambassador at UC Berkeley where she aids incoming students with portfolio reviews, application materials and career guidance for graduate school.
Before her M.Arch, Mallika worked for two years as an architect at SPASM Design Architects in Mumbai, India. SPASM Design is a contemporary Indian architecture practice focused on single family residential housing, commercial offices and interior design projects. During her time at SPASM, she led the design and development of a courtyard based residential project in Delhi, which primarily focused on using local materials and construction techniques. She also worked on interior design for a luxury duplex apartment in Mumbai and majorly contributed to the studio with their book publications, Archdaily and Architectural Design Magazine submissions.
Mallika is passionate about adaptive reuse, material innovation and sustainable architectural practices. She is particularly driven by projects that promote community well-being and create positive social impact.
