Designed as a large, multipurpose facility, this proposed eco-magnet high school and municipal building contains a high school, police and fire stations, and a community recycling center, all sharing structural, environmental, and waste systems. The school is organized around an open courtyard—a greenway that connects the entry to the ascending roof gardens. The building opens dramatically to the public, offering a communal gathering space in the auditorium /gym, as well as a gallery for use by both students and the public. It is designed as a model of how buildings can serve, in a deep way, the environment and its community, demonstrating the potential for interconnectedness between urbanism and natural ecologies.
